The situation
Most incidents are mundane and contested: a bag that went missing from reception, damage to a car in the car park, a dispute about who came through the door at 1am. Guests expect discretion, so coverage has to be about the right places rather than everywhere.

What you need
The kit, plainly.
Cameras on the entrance, reception, car park approach and service doors, and a PC in the office. Guest rooms and bathrooms are never appropriate. What a licence, a landlord or an insurer requires of a camera system is set locally and changes — check what applies to you rather than taking a software website's word for it.
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, with 8 GB of memory. The installer is about 30 MB and roughly 200 MB once installed. For the AI features a graphics card with 4 GB and DirectX 12 is recommended, preferably Nvidia; without one VISEC uses the processor. Everything included

Where should cameras never go?
Guest rooms, bathrooms and changing areas. Coverage belongs in public and service areas, and notification requirements vary locally.
Can reception see the cameras without full control?
Yes. Give reception its own account with the access it needs — see user accounts.
Can it open the car park barrier?
Yes, where the camera has output terminals, on a recognised plate or a QR code given to a guest.
