The situation
Cameras here are usually about two things: the entrance, so you know who came and went, and protecting staff from an accusation that would otherwise be one person's word against another's. Both need a record that is trustworthy and tightly controlled.

What you need
The kit, plainly.
Cameras on entrances and shared areas, and a PC in a locked office. Cameras do not belong in toilets or nappy-changing areas. What a licence, a landlord or an insurer requires of a camera system is set locally and changes — check what applies to you rather than taking a software website's word for it. Rules on recording children, on retention and on telling parents are strict and local; confirm them before installing anything.
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, with 8 GB of memory. The installer is about 30 MB and roughly 200 MB once installed. For the AI features a graphics card with 4 GB and DirectX 12 is recommended, preferably Nvidia; without one VISEC uses the processor. Everything included

Can parents watch a live stream?
That is a policy question rather than a feature question, and in many places it is discouraged or not permitted. VISEC records locally and does not publish a stream to anybody by default.
Who can see the footage?
Whoever you give an account to. Use separate logins with limited access rather than a shared password.
How long is footage kept?
For as long as your policy and local rules require and the disk allows. Retention rules here are strict — confirm them rather than inferring from a storage guide.
Is anything sent to a cloud?
No. That is the main reason settings like this choose local recording.
