A drive-off leaves a plate and a time.
A forecourt is the one retail site where the thing that leaves is a vehicle, and the vehicle carries its own identifier on the front and back. That is exactly what plate recognition is for.
Somebody fills up and drives away. The console operator was serving a queue and nobody caught the plate, so the report has a colour and a guess at a model. Meanwhile the shop has its own problems at the counter and by the door, and the car wash and the air line sit out of sight at the edge of the site.
What VISEC does about it.
- A plate on every vehicle that uses a pumpCameras aimed down the pump lanes read plates as vehicles arrive and leave, and the reading is logged with a time and a snapshot you can search later.
- The counter and the doorOrdinary motion recording on the shop, so a till dispute or an incident at the door has footage attached to a time.
- The edges of the siteThe car wash, the air line and the jet wash are usually the parts nobody can see from the console.
- Alerts while it is happeningA motion event can email a snapshot, which is more use at two in the morning than a recording nobody watches.
The kit, plainly.
Cameras covering each pump lane at a flat angle to the plate, plus the shop counter, the door and the outer edges of the site. Plate reading wants a camera aimed at the plate rather than the whole vehicle, and infrared illumination next to the lens rather than above it. An Nvidia GPU helps if several lanes are read at once.
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, with 8 GB of memory. The installer is about 30 MB and roughly 200 MB once installed. For the AI features a graphics card with 4 GB and DirectX 12 is recommended, preferably Nvidia; without one VISEC uses the processor. Everything included
Before you set it up.
Will it read a plate at night?
That is mostly a lighting question rather than a software one. Plates are retro-reflective, so an infrared illuminator mounted beside the lens is what makes a night plate readable.
Can I search for a plate afterwards?
Yes. The plate log is searchable, and a reading plays back the moment it was recorded.
Does it work on my country's plates?
Plates are read in more than 80% of the world's countries. The free one camera license is the complete program, so you can confirm it on your own forecourt before buying.
Is plate recognition an extra?
No. It is included in every license, including the free one camera license.
