Camera setup · Foscam

Connect a Foscam camera to VISEC.

Most Foscam IP cameras speak ONVIF, but on a different port from most brands, and a few models need ONVIF switched on first. Get those two details right and VISEC connects in seconds.

First, try the easy way

Press scan.

VISEC searches your network for ONVIF cameras and lists what it finds. If your Foscam camera already has ONVIF switched on, it appears here and you are watching live in a few seconds — nothing below is needed.

Turning ONVIF on

If the camera does not appear.

Menu names move around between firmware versions, so treat these as the place to look rather than an exact path.

  1. Open the camera

Sign in to the camera's web page at its IP address, or use the Foscam app. VISEC's scan shows the address if you do not know it.

  2. Check ONVIF is on

Look in the network settings for ONVIF and make sure it is enabled. Some models, including the C1 and several FI98xx cameras, ship with it off.

  3. Note the port

Foscam's ONVIF service usually answers on port 888, not 80. If VISEC asks for a port, enter 888.

  4. Scan from VISEC

Press scan, pick the camera and sign in. Foscam recommends plain letters and numbers in the user name and password.

PortsONVIF usually 888, RTSP 554, web interface often 88.
CredentialsAvoid special characters, and use at least six characters for the user name and password.
