Entrances, corridors and the medicine room.
A care home is somebody's home, so the honest version of this page starts with where cameras do not belong.
The questions a home actually needs answered are about doors and shared spaces: who came in, when a resident left the building, whether the medicine room was opened out of hours, and what happened in a corridor when a fall was reported. None of those needs a camera in a bedroom.
What VISEC does about it.
- Entrances and exitsMotion recording on every door, so an arrival or a resident leaving has a time attached.
- Corridors and shared roomsThe places where an incident gets reported and nobody is certain of the sequence afterwards.
- The medicine room doorA camera on the door with an out-of-hours alert, which emails a snapshot if it opens at the wrong time.
- Nothing leaves the buildingRecordings are written to your own drives. No upload, no cloud service holding footage of residents.
The kit, plainly.
Cameras on entrances, corridors and service doors, and a PC in a locked office. Cameras belong in shared and service areas, not in private rooms. What is permitted in a care setting is set locally, involves residents' and families' consent, and changes - take advice on it rather than relying on a software website.
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, with 8 GB of memory. The installer is about 30 MB and roughly 200 MB once installed. For the AI features a graphics card with 4 GB and DirectX 12 is recommended, preferably Nvidia; without one VISEC uses the processor. Everything included
Before you set it up.
Should there be cameras in residents' rooms?
Treat that as a decision for your regulator, your residents and their families rather than a technical question. This page is about entrances, corridors and service areas.
Who can see the recordings?
Only the accounts you create. Separate users can be limited to particular cameras and rights.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Footage stays on drives in the building.
