Camera setup · Amcrest

Connect an Amcrest camera to VISEC.

Amcrest IP cameras connect to VISEC over ONVIF, and on most models ONVIF is already on. Newer firmware also wants a separate ONVIF user, which is the usual reason a camera shows up in the scan but will not sign in.

First, try the easy way

Press scan.

VISEC searches your network for ONVIF cameras and lists what it finds. If your Amcrest camera already has ONVIF switched on, it appears here and you are watching live in a few seconds — nothing below is needed.

Signing in over ONVIF

If the camera does not appear.

Menu names move around between firmware versions, so treat these as the place to look rather than an exact path.

  1. Open the camera in a browser

Enter the camera's IP address and sign in as admin. VISEC's scan shows the address if you are not sure of it.

  2. Check ONVIF is on

On most models ONVIF is enabled from the factory. If your firmware has an ONVIF switch under the network settings, make sure it is ticked and saved.

  3. Add an ONVIF user if your firmware asks for one

Look for an ONVIF User tab in the account settings (Setup › System › Account on most models) and add a user. Amcrest suggests using the same name and password as your login, which keeps things simple.

  4. Scan from VISEC

Press scan, pick the camera and sign in with the ONVIF user. If you changed security settings, reboot the camera first.

PortsONVIF answers on the camera's HTTP port, normally 80, with RTSP on 554.
Wi-Fi modelsWired cameras are steadier for continuous recording. On Wi-Fi, a strong signal matters more than resolution.
Still not found?Confirm the camera and PC are on the same subnet and that the camera is not on the private PoE ports of an NVR.
