PoE is the right way to install fixed cameras: one network cable carries both the video and the power, so there is no socket to find at the top of a pole. VISEC records them like any other ONVIF camera.

A PoE switch or injector with enough power budget for the cameras you are connecting, and cable runs under about 100 m. Check each camera's power class — cameras with heaters or strong infrared draw noticeably more, and a switch that is fine on paper can struggle once every camera turns its illumination on at dusk.
Then a Windows PC: Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, 8 GB of memory, and a graphics card with 4 GB for the AI features if you want plate or QR reading.

If a camera does not appear, it is almost always ONVIF being switched off or wanting its own user account, and there are setup pages for twenty brands.

Does PoE affect image quality?
No. It changes how the camera is powered, not how it streams.
How far can a PoE camera be?
About 100 m of cable before Ethernet becomes unreliable. Beyond that you need a switch in between or a different link.
My camera drops out at night. Is that PoE?
Very likely power. Infrared is the biggest draw, so a marginal supply fails at dusk — see cameras that keep disconnecting.
