Will my existing cameras work?
Check whether the model offers ONVIF or RTSP. Many app-first consumer cameras deliberately do not, and no third-party software can read those — the specification page or manual will say.
What should I buy if they will not?
An ONVIF camera with PoE at 1080p or better. That keeps every option open afterwards.
Is there a subscription?

Do I need to keep a PC switched on?
