Guide · motion alerts

Get an email when your camera sees motion.

The point of a camera is knowing when something happens — without watching it. Here is how to get an email with a picture the moment something moves.

Download VISEC free One camera license free for life · Windows 10 & 11 · no card, no email.
  1. Connect the camera

Install VISEC, press scan and pick your camera. Any ONVIF camera works; the motion detection happens in the software, so no extra sensors are needed.

  2. Draw the zone

Mark the part of the picture that matters — the driveway, the door, the till — and leave out trees and the road so they do not trigger alerts.

  3. Set the sensitivity

Start in the middle and adjust after a day: higher catches more, lower cuts false alarms.

  4. Add your email

Enter the address to alert. Each alert carries a snapshot of what moved. VISEC can also send an HTTP post to connect your own software.

Questions

Quick answers.

Do motion alerts need a special camera?

No. VISEC analyses the video itself, so any supported IP camera can send motion alerts.

How do I stop false alarms from trees and shadows?

Draw the zone tightly around what matters and lower the sensitivity. Leaving moving trees and the street out of the zone removes most false alerts.

Are email alerts in the free version?

Yes. Email alerts are included in the free 1-camera license.
