Recording everything is the expensive way to have footage nobody watches. VISEC records when something happens, using a motion algorithm that adapts to how busy each camera actually is.
By default VISEC uses its own motion algorithm, which adapts to the level of activity a camera normally sees. A camera watching a quiet back gate and one facing a busy forecourt do not need the same sensitivity, and you should not have to work that out by hand.
Where you do want control, Setup Internal Motion sensor in the camera's motion properties opens the detail, including the area of the picture to watch.

Does motion detection happen in the camera or the software?
In VISEC, on the stream. That means it works the same on every camera, including analog cameras on a video server and ordinary USB cameras, whether or not the camera has its own detection.
Can I record continuously as well?
Yes. Recording can be set to everything, to an incremental rate such as one frame a second, and to full video on motion. They combine.
Why does it trigger on rain?
Precipitation close to the lens and lit by infrared looks like a large fast object. Pull the zone in and shield the lens — see stopping false alerts.
Is it in the free license?
